Romeo Ruiz grew up in Santa Rosa, California and started coaching in 2022, because “I have a huge passion for volleyball and it makes me really happy that I am able to pass that passion on to others who are in that same learning process that I was once in..” Romeo has experience and excels at coaching high school level athletes. Players describe his coaching style as energetic and fun, but always making sure we’re getting down to business and really taking the time to evolve our skills. Romeo believes to be successful, a team must work collaboratively, and have the same goals personally and as a team, Romeo strives to instill this in his athletes. Romeo chose to work at SoCal Volleyball Club because he experienced the welcoming and kindness mantra at SoCal VBC at one of the open gyms which really caught his eye and made me determined to see what this family was really about.

When not coaching you’ll find Romeo skiing, “I’m originally from Northern California so you can mostly catch me on the slopes.” He loves playing piano and guitar in his free time.
