Andrew Richardson grew up in Oceanside and started coaching in 2011, because of his love for the game. He loves being able to coach each generation after himself and see how well they perform. Andrew has experience and excels at coaching middle school, high school, community college, NAIA, and professional level athletes. Players describe his coaching style as stern but fun. Andrew believes to be successful, a team must enjoy the sport, have coachability, and be team players. Andrew strives to instill this in his athletes. Andrew chose to work at SoCal Volleyball Club because SoCal has a good sense of community, and he is excited to coach alongside his friends.

Notable coaching achievements include being awarded AVCA’s top 30 coaches in the nation that are under 30 years old in 2022. When he first began coaching at Oceanside High, between all 3 programs for indoor, only 2-3 kids out of 45 had played indoor previously. By the time he conluded his coaching career at Oceanside High after 5 years, over 35 out of the 45 had club indoor experience. Andrew believes he had a strong influence in the program’s growth as he stressed the importance of playing indoor every year.

When not coaching you’ll find Andrew playing beach volleyball very regularly. He also enjoys going to the movies and traveling in his free time.
