Maurice Masao Anderson grew up in Oceanside, CA and started coaching in 2017, because โI was incredibly intrigued and interested in the game of volleyball and learning the game through coaching alongside playing. Helping new players understand fundamentals and learning the fun of volleyball is a joy.โ Maurice Masao has experience and excels at coaching high school level athletes. Players describe his coaching style as recieving high amounts of encouragement and advice through multiple different angles derived from his upbringing in tennis. He understands the importance of technical training in volleyball and recognises the value of training the psychological aspect as well. Maurice Masao believes to be successful, a team must willing to go outside of their comfort zone and focus on using fundamentals in conjunction with personal strengthsโ to be true problem solvers, and he strives to instill this in his athletes. Maurice Masao chose to work at SoCal Volleyball Club because he has met many great players who came out of Socal and loved the energy of the staff and club, overall.
When not coaching youโll find Maurice Masao at the beach, learning languages, examining cultures, and listening to jazz music.
