Long-time SoCal member, Annie Nugent has been with us for over 10 years and played on our competitive travel teams from 2013-2021. She made the top team for her age group in just her third season with us and continued to be on the National team every year after as the starting setter and captain of her team. Following her high school graduation and her last season as a player for us, she immediately started coaching, and we are so happy sheโs here.
She attended Mission Vista High School where she played 3 years in their program spending two years on Varsity as their starting setter. In 2019, Annie was selected as MVP of her team and named First Team All-Valley League. That same year she helped lead her team to the Valley League title providing Mission Vista their first girlโs volleyball league title in school history and an overall record of 24-10.
Currently, Annie is attending the University of Saint Katherine right here in San Marcos and is studying kinesiology while playing on their womenโs volleyball team.
Her coaching style includes giving a ton of encouragement, providing so much feedback, having lots of fun, and being tough in those moments when a coach just needs to bring out the best in their players. She pushes her kids to be extremely vocal, quick on their feet, and as precise as possible with their technique.
Annie describes herself as super competitive, energetic, fun, and determined. She loves being the loudest person in the gym and is super friendly to every person who walks in the door.
Although she is young, Annie is very familiar with the game of volleyball, and her love of the game is extremely visible when she is coaching. She is always available to help you with anything and everything and will make it her priority to help you become a better volleyball player.
