Preparing for your first week of practice

Welcome to the New Season at SoCal Volleyball Club!

Hello, SoCal family! We want to officially welcome you to the new season. We’re beyond excited and grateful to share this experience with you, and we want to make sure you’re fully prepared for your first week of practices. Here are a few helpful tips and reminders:

Arrive Early for Practices

Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of practice. The parking lot can get busy, and arriving early gives you time to put on your shoes and equipment, chat with your teammates, and cheer on the team before you.

Bring a Refillable Water Bottle

We have filtered water and ice available in the gym, so don’t forget your refillable water bottle! We’re trying to reduce plastic waste by avoiding disposable bottles as much as possible.

Running Late or Missing Practice?

If you’re running late or need to miss a practice, please let your coach know as early as possible. Encourage players to communicate directly—it’s a valuable life lesson and helps them advocate for themselves. [Watch our attendance policy video]

Mandatory Practice Shirt

Don’t forget that the black practice t-shirt is a required part of your uniform. If you don’t have one, you won’t be able to practice. If you haven’t received yours yet, it’ll be waiting for you at the gym. We recommend buying extras to keep in your volleyball bag.

What to Expect at Your First Practice

Practices will start on time, so be ready to begin your dynamic warm-up right at your practice time. For your first session, there will be a 20-30 minute team meeting with players and coaches to introduce each other and set guidelines and expectations for the season.

Parent Meeting and Team Parent Volunteers

Parents, keep an eye out for your coach’s announcement in GroupMe regarding a parent meeting within the first two weeks of practice. If you’re a great organizer and would like to volunteer as a team parent, please reach out to your coach!

Check Your Team Page

Be sure to visit your team page at socalvbc.com/team for your team roster and event calendar.

GroupMe Etiquette

Feel free to add family members who need team updates to the GroupMe chat. This will be the place for all team communication, tournament details, and SoCal events. Please use GroupMe during appropriate hours and be respectful. If you need to reach out to the coach personally, feel free to DM them.

Contacting Admin

For any administrative questions, you can email us at [email protected] or text/call us at (760) 515-3741.

Your SoCal Volleyball Clubhouse

The gym is open all day! You’re welcome to arrive early, do homework, or hang out in the café. We have comfy seating, snacks, and drinks available. Parents are also welcome to stay, use our Wi-Fi, and enjoy coffee from the café. Please refrain from coaching or commenting during practice, and feel free to drop off your player and enjoy some time to yourself, knowing they’re in great hands.

We are so excited for this season and are here to support you every step of the way. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out. See you in the gym!

SoCal’s Holiday Giving: Team Community Service Project

At SoCal Volleyball, one of our most cherished traditions is coming together as a community to make the holiday season brighter for children and young adults in need. Each year, we ask our teams to participate in this special initiative by shopping for gifts that will bring joy to those less fortunate.

How This Community Service Project Works

This year, SoCal Volleyball is proud to support the San Diego Foster Angels (SDFA) as our holiday philanthropy initiative. SDFA’s mission is to bring joy to foster and at-risk children by fulfilling their ongoing needs and wishes. This year marks the 20th anniversary of their holiday party, where Santa will arrive on a firetruck, bringing gifts to over 200 San Diego children. A significant portion of these children are from the North County foster network.

To contribute, your team’s gifts will be for kids ages 14 and up. Your team will be shopping for these kids, and we encourage you to select any gifts you think they would enjoy. Some suggestions include wireless headphones, bluetooth speaker, a watch, art supplies, remote control cars, false eyelashes, led strip lights, fire tablet, power bank charger, Nike hoodie / zip up.

Please ensure that the gifts are new, unwrapped and received by December 16. They can shipped directly to:

Peggy Goldsmith
c/o SD Foster Angels
1000 Aviara Parkway, Suite 220
Carlsbad, CA 92011

Alternatively, gifts can be brought to the Club.

If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to SoCal mom Tracey Barker at (760) 707-7362.

Thank you for your generosity and support. We look forward to making this holiday season brighter for these children.

With gratitude,

SoCal Volleyball Club
