Brian’s coaching style is passionate, thoughtful, and innovative. He believes in falling in love with the process and earning your keep. In his eyes, becoming a consistent player is the first step in becoming a great player, and it happens day by day.

Brian brings a diverse thought process to the game, having been immersed in the culture for over eight years. He was a two-year captain at Palomar College, earning conference honors both years playing two separate positions, setter and outside hitter. Playing locally at Mission Vista High School, Brian was MVP his senior year, leading his team to a CIF Finals appearance, and was awarded the CIF Sportsmanship Award.

As a coach, Brian subscribes to the theory of positionless volleyball and trains players to excel in all skills. He firmly believes that by understanding how and why we do things, we can become greater controllers of our environment, letting our creativity flourish. Above all else, volleyball is the venue to develop real-world skills. Brian works hard to be a role model, providing constructive feedback, collaborating, and becoming dependable.

Outside of coaching, Brian remains deeply connected to the volleyball community, currently playing at San Diego State University, running summer camps, and developing his rating in the CBVA. Above all else, Brian is beyond grateful to be a part of the SoCal family.
