Character Through Kindness.
Courtney Dunn fell in love with the sport of volleyball at the age of 12. She first started at Roosevelt Middle School in 7th grade and has played ever since. She is a passionate and strong-minded player, determined to excel in her volleyball career.
Courtney played throughout middle school, and started her first year of club volleyball at SoCal 13-1 Trestles team as an Outside Hitter. The following year she played for the 15-1 team at Hightide and was selected as captain for her team. Leadership comes natural to Courtney; she is always encouraging others with her positive attitude and team spirit. Last year Courtney joined SoCal’s 16-1 Trestle’s National team as an outside hitter. However, her versatility allows her to play where she is needed or as a libero. She is currently playing on the 17-1 team as a DS and loves it.
Courtney is a Junior at Vista High school playing on the Varsity Team. She played frosh volleyball as a starter, and ended her season on Vista’s JV volleyball team with a record of 10-0. Courtney pushes her academic career by challenging herself with two honor classes and one advanced placement course. Since the 9th grade Courtney has been on the Principal’s Academic Honor Roll. Her average GPA is a 4.4.
Last year Courtney took on the role as a weekly tutor for a 7 and 11 year old kids, who tragically lost their father. During the summer she raised for her High School $10,000 and Volleyball gear for her team. She entered the National Serve it Up contest. She was one of five finalist's, by soliciting votes from family, friends, coaches and teammates she was able to win. This year she is involved in a program called Character Leaders. They participate in events all year to help raise money for well needed community programs. She also started an Animeal Food campaign, collecting food from her High School, Neighborhood and SoCal Volleyball Club. The food is delivered to elderly and disabled with pets.
Courtney's plans in the future are to go to a 4-year university or state university. She plans on playing volleyball while majoring in either Communications or Business and fulfilling her passion for the sport that she loves.
