Character Through Kindness.
I am a very dedicated student and competitive athlete.
I have been playing volleyball since the eighth grade. I played at SoCal Volleyball Club on the 14-2 Swamis Team and fell in love with the game. I became very driven to succeed in this sport and went on to make the Freshman Volleyball Team at Carlsbad High School where I received the 2009 Coaches Award. I continued playing Club Volleyball for SoCal on the 15-2 Swamis Team. I then played for the CHS JV Team my sophomore year where the team placed 3rd at the Rancho Bernardo Tournament. For 2011, I played on the 16-1 Trestles National Team and made the Varsity Volleyball Team at my high school as a Defensive Specialist in which the team won 2nd in their league and made it to the semi-finals for CIF. I also made the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team in my junior and senior year. Every year of playing High School Volleyball, I received the Scholar Athlete Award. In 2012, I played on the 17-1 National Team where our team won 13th in the 18s division at the Fiesta Classic in Phoenix, won our bracket at the Las Vegas Classic in the Open Division, won 13th place at the 2012 Junior Olympic Qualifiers in the 17s division, and won 9th place in the 18s Division of the Summer Soiree. This past high school season, I was a senior co-captain of the CHS Varsity Team and the starting Libero in which I helped lead the team to the semi-finals of CIF and won the Best Defender 2012 Award and made 2nd Team All-Avocado West League Team. This club season, I am the starting Libero for the SoCal Volleyball Club 18-1 Team. As an athlete, I am motivated to win, passionate, and do not take defeat lightly. I give my all and encourage each member of my team constantly with her driven spirit.
Prior to Volleyball, I studied and trained in Shotokan Karate for seven years. By the time I was eleven, I achieved her Junior Sho-Dan (black belt) in front of a world-class AJKA instructor panel. I developed a true passion for competition and this carries over into all aspects of my life, including my volleyball game.
When I'm not on the court, I involve myself in a wide range of activities and organizations in my community. I volunteer regularly at North Coast Calvary Chapel working with “Kids Games”, a program teaching younger kids through sports ministry, and working at local events at the church. I was selected to attend a mission’s trip to Chennai, India last summer to assist the Dalit People by working with orphans through a sports ministry organization and help coach volleyball to local school children. I have participated and volunteered for the past four years at the MS Walk in Carlsbad, CA. Having relatives with this disease, I am passionate about helping to find a cure and aid those with this illness. I have also volunteered within the community of Carlsbad at the public library and at the yearly Art Splash Festival. I am also a part of the Natural High Youth Leadership Team where I help teens pursue a drug-free lifestyle and find their "natural" high through their passions; I also interned at Natural High to gain business experience and help spread their message at community churches and events. Furthermore, I spend her spare time volunteering at SoCal Volleyball Club, assisting in coaching volleyball clinics and mentoring teams for younger girls. I love sharing my passion for volleyball with others and helping them develop a love for the game as well.
I am currently taking three advanced placement courses my senior year at Carlsbad High School, where I graduate in 2013. This first semester I received a weighted GPA of a 4.6. I plan on attending a four year university and playing college volleyball. I am interested in majoring in Global/International Business.
